DENVER, Colo. -- Tuesday, November 30, is the deadline for people in the Devils Lake area to get a flood insurance policy that may pay off even before their property is flooded.

July 19, 1999 - News Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Colorado Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) have provided disaster assistance of more than $6.6 million to 2,664 households and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding that occurred between April 29 - May 19. An additional $567,800 has been provided for rebuilding infrastructure, such as roads, bridges and parks, bringing the total federal and state aid so far to almost $7.2 million.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- As of July 14, disaster assistance for El Paso County totals almost $1.2 million, state and federal recovery officials said today.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
