WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Conditions continue to improve in Tennessee after an additional round of severe weather that included tornadoes hit the state on Jan. 21 - 22. FEMA Director Witt, along with Regional, State and local officials, visited Clarksville (Montgomery County) and Benton and Jackson counties on Jan. 23.

WASHINGTON, D. C. -- Twelve counties in tornado-ravaged western Tennessee have been designated eligible for federal assistance by the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under President Clinton's major disaster declaration issued for the state this morning.
