TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Palm Beach County today was made eligible for assistance to residents and business owners for extensive damages stemming from Tropical Storm Mitch. Federal Coordinating Officer Paul W. Fay, Jr., of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said the county was added at the request of the state. The presidential declaration of Nov. 6 was for Monroe County after tornadoes and other storm spawned by Mitch struck the area.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced late Friday, November 6 that federal disaster aid had been approved for Florida to help families and communities in Monroe County recover from the effects of Tropical Storm Mitch.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Federal/state now is available to Monroe County residents and business owners under a separate major disaster declaration for damages resulting from Tropical Storm Mitch. Federal Coordinating Officer Paul W. Fay, Jr., of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reminded those who suffered damages or losses that yesterday's declaration is a separate emergency from Hurricane Georges.
