Charities and Health Organizations

In our nation’s effort to increase preparedness for every conceivable hazard, every individual and every organization has an important role in making our communities, and the nation as a whole, more resilient. In policy terms, FEMA and the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) Program Management Office (PMO) are taking a “Whole Community” approach to national preparedness. This means the IPAWS PMO has made it a priority to work with charities and health organizations.

FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate stated, “We cannot separate out and segment one sector in isolation; the interdependencies are too great…we want to be in the situation where we work as a team and not compete with each other.”  The IPAWS PMO will work with charities and health organization to build and strengthen our relationships, provide information to the American people before, during, and after a disaster, and accomplish our shared goal to preserve life and protect property.
