The Integrated Public Alert and Warning (IPAWS) Program Management Office (PMO) attends, presents, and conducts technical demonstrations at several industry, professional association, and government conferences and events each year. Additionally, the IPAWS PMO hosts working group, roundtables, and special interest group sessions.
At conferences, IPAWS demonstrates the IPAWS proof-of-concept through end-to-end alert origination, alert aggregation utilizing the Open Platform for Emergency Networks (IPAWS-OPEN), and alert dissemination technologies. During these demonstrations, an emergency manager will generate a geo-targeted, Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) compliant alert or warning message and send it to the IPAWS-OPEN Aggregator. The message will be authenticated and pushed simultaneously to numerous emergency communication devices that monitor the IPAWS-OPEN system for CAP messages, and will activate the emergency communication devices based on the message type and geo-location information contained in the messages.
