Wired, Twitter, and Beyond: Social Media And Disaster Response

Main Content

Remember last week when the Administrator was on the West Coast meeting with tech companies to talk about social media, technology, emergency management, and ways to better assist the public in getting prepared, by using the tools they use on a daily basis?

Well two of the places Craig visited were Wired Magazine and Twitter. During his visit to Wired, Craig recorded a podcast. It’s up and you can listen to it on their website.

And here’s a quick video Craig filmed after his meeting with Twitter.

Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Two thumbs up! It has definately been a challenge for us at the Red Cross to reach out to the growing online community and get them involved and aware of emergency preparedness, but I think we're all moving in the right direction!

Is it possible to make this video (and perhaps others) available to share, or on Youtube? It would help our plea to our Town to get #SMEM smart if we can embed at local level.

Twitter is the most effective situational awareness tool available to our Regional Coordination Team. Thank you Craig for getting us started when we asked to use it.
