Region V

Serving IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI

What We Do

Region 5 PhotoFEMA Region V serves the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, as well as the 34 federally recognized tribes located in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Our regional office provides advice, training and funding to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain and improve our capabilities for disaster preparedness, protection, response, recovery and mitigation. If a disaster is beyond the resources of a state or tribal government, that authority may request a major disaster declaration by the President through the regional office. When there is a declaration, Region V in coordination with the state or tribe oversees the opening of a temporary joint field office, which conducts the federal response and recovery activities.

Who We Are

Region V employs about130 full-time employees and can draw on a cadre of more than 500 disaster assistance employees to provide support on major disasters.
