2008 Spring Mitigation Conference Highlights

Conway, New Hampshire Town Hall The 2008 New England Mitigation Conference in Laconia, New Hampshire, took place April 30-May 2.  Its theme, “Back to Basics,” was brought to life by several informative presenters and many interesting discussion sessions.  Now in its 18th year, the annual spring conference is an excellent forum for learning and discussing the many mitigation activities that take place throughout New England.  The conference, hosted by FEMA, included participants from several state and regional partners, non-profit entities, and private sector organizations. Full Story.

FEMA's Region I Mitigation Division, led by Division Director Kevin Merli, is committed to excellent customer service through solid partnerships with our state, local and tribal counterparts.  Its mission is reflective of FEMA's national Mitigation Directorate - to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of disasters. 

The Region I Mitigation Division covers the six New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire Rhode Island and Vermont .  Members of our staff are experts in various aspects of mitigation, and specialize in activities conducted within our branches.  Learn who in Region I can answer your specific mitigation question.

Local officials in the Town of Hull, Mass. have worked tirelessly to get Hull into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Community Ratings System (CRS), and for residents with flood insurance, their hard work will continue to pay off – literally.  Full Story
