Hi I'm Ivy Frances of the Federal Emergency Management Agency
Believe it or not, Spring is almost here and in New England Spring showers usually brings flooding so we want to get the word out to buy flood insurance.
This year especially with the increased amount of snow pack and the predicted rainfall; we expect that many areas will flood.
If you live near a stream or river, or if your basement or property has flooded before, you may be at a high risk of flooding this year.
We want to let everybody know that now is the time to buy flood insurance. There is a 30 day waiting period for flood insurance to take affect. With the rains coming, we want to make sure that any one who buys flood insurance is covered before it floods.
Remember, flood insurance is not part of your homeowners insurance, and if you don't have flood insurance, any damage to your house and contents such as your furnace, refrigerator or furniture due to flooding will not be covered.
