Hi, I’m Daisy Sweeney, FEMA’s flood insurance specialist for the New England region.  I just wanted to take a minute to talk to you about how crucial it is to get flood insurance now – if you don’t have it.

Spring is coming, and with spring comes snowmelt and rain.  So if you live on the coast, or near a stream, or if your home has flooded before, do the best thing you can do to protect your home or business from flooding – buy flood insurance.

Did you know that you homeowner’s insurance policy does not cover flood damage or that there is a thirty day waiting period for your flood policy to become effective?  So, in order to be prepared for spring, call your local insurance agent today or visit www.floodsmart.gov.
