National Preparedness Directorate
Overview
Established on April 1, 2007, FEMA’s National Preparedness Directorate (NPD) is responsible for leading the Nation’s efforts to enhance preparedness to prevent, protect from, respond to, and recover from disasters, natural and manmade. NPD strives to achieve a Nation prepared through a comprehensive cycle of planning, organizing and equipping, training, exercising, evaluating and improvement planning.
The Divisions of the NPD are:
- Individual and Community Preparedness Division (ICPD)
- National Integration Center (NIC)
- National Training and Education
- National Training and Education Division (NTED)
- Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP)
- Emergency Management Institute (EMI)
- National Exercise Division (NED)
- Technological Hazards Division (THD)
- National Preparedness Assessment Division (NPAD)
