From Craig Fugate, Administrator
I am pleased to announce that President Barack Obama has appointed Brian Kamoie as the Assistant Administrator for the Grant Programs Directorate.
Kamoie joins FEMA from the White House’s National Security Staff where he served as the Senior Director for Preparedness Policy. Prior to that he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and Director of the Office of Policy, Strategic Planning & Communications at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where he also began his federal career in 2004 as a Special Assistant and then Senior Policy Advisor.
Before joining public service, Kamoie taught health policy at The George Washington University; practiced health law at Proskauer Rose LLP and was an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore Law School. Early in his career, he was a management consultant at McManis Associates and a senior associate consultant at McNees, Wallace & Nurick. Kamoie received a B.A. from Dickinson College and a J.D. and M.P.H. from The George Washington University.
I thank Mr. Dave Kaufman, who has served as Acting Assistant Administrator for GPD over the last five months, in addition to maintaining his role with Office of Policy and Program Analysis. His leadership and collaborative approach have been essential during this time as GPD prepared for the release of the FY 2013 Preparedness Grants Programs.
Please join me in welcoming Kamoie to the FEMA team.
